In this work SOMG uses an ancient Japanese technique of wood preservation called Yakisugi, involving burning the timber to create the deep black charred colour.
Part of his Tapatoru series, the charred triangles created from salvaged Native and Exotic timbers are contrasted against the stunning design that joins two beautiful curves together. This central design is crafted with unique SOMg style from salvaged Totara, Rimu & Spruce.
A stunning contemporary piece that would be a cool addition to any interior.

These innovative & original art works are designed and made in NZ by SOMg. They can also be reproduced to order, understanding that they would have slight variants in tones and timbers due to the hand made nature of the work and the salvaged timber available.
